JIN YUNG

JIN’S martial arts journey began in Hong Kong at age 14 with traditional Chinese martial arts and kickboxing. After moving to New York for university he started his jiu jitsu practice at the famed Renzo Gracie Academy. He also began studying boxing, wrestling, muay thai, and judo with respected coaches and athletes from around the NYC and Tri-State area. As co-founder of Workshop Jiu Jitsu with Aaron Milam, Jin has been teaching and training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 20 years. He has also competed at the national and international levels in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a multiple time Pan Am No-Gi medalist and New York Open medalist at the Adult Brown and Adult Black Belt levels. While training at the Renzo Gracie Academy, the majority of his practice was spent under the instruction of John Danaher. He received his black belt from Renzo Gracie in 2010.

In addition to having trained extensively with John Danaher, Brian Glick was also huge influence in his jiu jitsu upbringing whilst coming up at the Renzo Gracie Academy.

Jin wrestled under the instruction of Hamid Kermanshah, NYAC wrestling coach and Mike Torriero, former WVU Captain, Beat the Streets Head Coach, and Head Coach of the Renzo Gracie Wrestling team. He has also competed in open wrestling tournaments in the NYC area.

His judo practice was done at the NYAC Dojo studying with Teimoc Johnston Ono, former Olympic Head Coach and Olympian and the judoka there for many years. Jin has also boxed for over 15 years training with Edgar Chutan and others. Jin holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management and a Masters degree in Education.
