LEE SCANTALIDES
Lee became a Kettlebell (KB) instructor in 2014, where he passed his Strongfirst (SFG-I) certification in Manhattan. Due to his performance at his SFG-I certification, he was invited to assist at an instructor certification in California in 2017. To further his education as a Kettlebell instructor, Lee completed/passed the Strongfirst KB Level II instructor certification September 2021 in NYC. SFG level II requires registrants to successfully overhead press half their bodyweight to pass the certification process.
In addition, Lee is also an avid martial artist beginning his training at 6 years old. He trained in Uechi-Ryu Karate and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu until the age of 14, where he transitioned to Olympic style Taekwondo (TKD). Lee competed at the adult black belt level nationally and state-wide for several years before moving to NYC.
While in NYC, he started his career as strength/conditioning coach/trainer and TKD instructor. In 2008, Lee was promoted to 4th dan black belt in TKD, while he was pursuing his doctorate in physical therapy (DPT). In 2010, he graduated from the DPT program and combined his training/coaching skills with physical therapy.
Lee started training Muay Thai at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan in 2015. After several years, he was able to participate in the sparring class alongside the school’s fighters.
In 2017, Lee began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan and currently holds the rank of blue belt. He continues training BJJ at Workshop under Professor Jin Yung.
Lee understands the value of combat athletes (strikers and grapplers) learning the skill of strength practice using Kettlebells for sustainable training.
